His Excellency as Patron and Lady Dalton visited the refurbishment and £2million extension of Jersey Cheshire Home.
The work has taken just over a year to complete – and so far only a quarter of the money needed has been raised to pay for it.
Among the extension are three more bedrooms, a new therapy room, another lift and a new meeting, training and activities room.
The building can now accommodate 28 physically disabled individuals.
His Excellency unveiled a plaque to formally open the Big Build Memorial garden, which commemorates and remembers everyone who has used the home since it opened 35 years ago.
His Excellency said he is thrilled with the end result.
“It has been heartening for everyone involved to see how happy our residents are with the new facilities.
“It is a high quality facility but we have managed to maintain the personal touch in a modern building.”
