Michael Roche who has helped to save lives at sea for two decades has been rewarded for his selfless dedication to the community with the award of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s Long-Service Badge.
Michael Roche, who joined St Catherine’s Lifeboat crew in 1996, was presented with the badge for 20 years’ continuous service by His Excellency at a ceremony at Government House.
Mr Roche who was born in St John and lives in Grouville, served as an RNLI lifeboat crewman from 1996 until May 2003 before he assumed the role of station helmsman.
He currently holds the position of station launcher and mechanic.
