His Excellency presented the British Empire Medal (BEM) to Mrs Joan Tapley and Mrs Barbara Ball in a formal ceremony at Government House on Friday 9th December.
Mrs Ball was awarded the BEM in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for services to the community through her volunteer work with Jersey’s Youth Service. For more than 35 years, Mrs Ball has given up her evenings and weekends to help at St. Peter’s Youth Club.
Mrs Tapley was also awarded the BEM in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for services to the community through the protection and promotion Jersey’s Native Language (Jèrriais).
